Wakesurfing 102
Wakesurfing 102: You, the driver
Step 1: Fill your gas tank – it adds weight and you are going to burn through it surfing.
Step 2: With Ballast: Fill the rider’s side and test. Load all passengers onto the side of the boat that your rider will be on (preferably toward the rear of the boat)
Without Ballast: Your largest friend just became known as the “fat sac” and should sit in the back corner of the boat. You will want as much weight distributed to the rear of the boat as possible (on the rider’s side)
Step 3: With the rider in the water and ready at the end of the line, slowly put your boat in gear and ease up to 8-12mph. Do Not “Hit It”
Step 4: Once the boat is at speed and the wake is shaped, hold your speed and a slight left- or right-hand turn (depending on the rider’s side)
Remember, your rider is close, so keep focused on maintaining your speed and course without making any abrupt changes to direction or speed.
